Dissolving Memories

GUO Hongwei
15 Aug - 30 Aug 2007
Hong Kong

Guo Hongwei sees memories as marks and traces that are imprinted on our brains. He uses old photos, mangles them with the memories in his brain, and converts them into monochrome paintings on canvas. His intentional use of a single colour  'blue' suggests a one-sided reflection of his childhood memories. He is now living and working in Beijing. "Dissolving Memories" is his first solo exhibition with 82 Republic since joining the contemporary art space. He has previously exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing in China. This solo exhibition in Hong Kong takes him one step closer into the international art circle.
